Mark Mathis

Mark Mathis was a former All-American cornerback at Liberty University from 1983-1987.  As a four year starter Mark received numerous honors including the Kodak All-American & Naismith All-American awards. He was the first player in the history of Liberty University to receive both awards.

After graduating with a degree in Psychology and Business Administration, Mark was signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1987. In 1988 Mark attended training camp with the Miami Dolphins before heading to the Canadian League where he played with the Edmonton Eskimos for four seasons from 1988 until 1991. Mark was then traded to the British Columbia Lions where finished his pro career in 1993.  While with the Canadian Football League, Mark was selected to the Western Conference All Stars twice and played in the 1990 CFL Grey Cup Championship.

Immediately following his pro career, Mark was able to keep his hand in college and pro football when he became a National Field Consultant with ELITE Football Services, (formerly known as Scout Camp). For the past 22 years Mark has been a key staff member at ELITE pro combines as a defensive back drills specialist, forty yard dash timer and Group Leader. Because of his uniquely positive attitude and highly professional work with ELITE, Mark was named Director of College Relations for ELITE in 2009.

As ELITE’s Director of College Relations, Mark assists college coaches in understanding all of ELITE’s player services and how to nominate their players for invitation to the ELITE Pro Football Regional Combines. With his college and pro career experience, Mark is uniquely qualified to assist players who aspire to make the transition from college to the pros.

Mark and his lovely wife Melanie reside in the Atlanta area with their children Jordan, Sydney and Christian.
